SprInt - Qualification as a language and integration mediator in education, health and social services

Migrants often feel that they are not properly understood by public authorities, schools, healthcare facilities and social services. Professionals spend more time than usual advising or treating migrants. Nevertheless, they are unsure whether all their questions have been answered. This results in mistrust and dissatisfaction on both sides, and leads to avoidable additional costs for the organisations involved. This is where professional language and integration mediators (SprInt) can help.

Future language and integration mediators are trained across a total of nine learning areas. They acquire knowledge of the fundamentals and structures of the education, health and social services sectors, as well as the theory and practice of interpreting, migration and participation, reflective skills, social skills and communication skills. The theoretical instruction is consolidated through two placement phases.

Upon successful completion of the training programme, SprInts can work in educational, social and healthcare institutions or as self-employed interpreters. If they wish, they can be registered with the Thuringian Placement Service and placed through this service.

Participation in the qualification programme is free of charge; any travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
